Throughout the Pow Wow Circuits there is always a beautiful array of colourful dancers that are admired by thousands upon thousands of people. In North America we have the Fancy Dancers, Jingle Dress Dancers, Men's and Ladies Traditional Dancers.

Often at the head of the procession is a honoured individual who carries the staff that represents all the Aboriginal Nations. Streamers of colourful ribbons covered with otter pelts and eagle feathers make the flag that is honoured above all others. Behind the staff are the Veterans of past wars and current conflicts caring the American Flag Pow-MIA flags, VFW post flags and state flags.

The Oklahoma feather Dancer or "Fancy Dance" is the most popular style of dance and outfit seen at modern powwows throughout the Plains. The Fancy Dance outfit, as such, has no tribal identity and thus is often called a "Pan Indian" outfit. The "Fancy Dance" originated as Fancy War Dance by the Hethuska society in Oklahoma.

A Round Dance, or Social Dance, is a dance of friendship. Everyone joins the circle, which signifies the circle of life that has no beginning and no end. If asked you must join in - it would be rude to refuse. Everyone holds hands, A song is sung with a heavy 1-2 pattern and the dancers move laterally around the arena. There are a lot of fun and usually Round Dances are sung in sets of three or four songs.
